5 years ago I was in a horrific accident, since then I have had multiple procedures done on my back and ribs, and 3 cervical surgeries.
Before my first cervical surgery over 2 years ago I was at 180 lbs, I wore a size 14-16, months and months of physical therapy, I was diagnosed with arthritis, fibromyalgia, I had depression, PTSD, and was diagnosed as bipolar, I had vestibular problems, dizziness, couldn’t walk a straight line, occasionally used a cane, could not walk up stairs, I had nerve problems, among other ailments. I was on so many meds, about 10 that I can remember, now if my bones or joints hurt I take Naproxen or ibuprofen or an occasional gabapentin for nerve pain, all other meds have been thrown out, even my psych drugs (I keep xanax around, just in case I get some anxiety ).
I now weigh 139 lbs (at least 5 of that is muscle if not more) I wear a size 8 (sometimes a 6) I am healthy, I am working (after 3 years on disability) I have a loving supporting boyfriend, my kids are achieving their dreams. Now mind you I will never be the same and have the movement I had before due to rods and plates and screws in my neck and upper back. But I did not give up! I am in the best shape I have been in over 20 years, and I’m not done yet!
Thank you to each and every one of you who cheered and supported me along the way! I still have a ways to go but in 3.5 months I will be surfing and hiking and zip-lining among other things in my first real vacation in a long time…Puerta Vallarta. Thanks to my honey John Chavez for making this happen and pushing me, and cheering me on. Shout out to Dr Steven Cyr and his staff at SASpine for giving me my life back!
